This alcoholic Mexican hot chocolate cocktail combines bourbon with cocoa goodness, a kick of cayenne, and minty Brancamenta. Thanks to Erin Sullivan, head bartender at The Third Man, for creating the PERFECT snow day cocktail!

Bar supplies:

  • Mug
  • Stir spoon
  • Jigger
Hot chocolate (powdered cocoa mixed with equal parts water & sweetened condensed milk)6 ounces
Cayenne2 pinches
Brancamenta1.5 ounces (1 shot)
Bourbon1.5 ounces (1 shot)
Mint sprig1 for garnish
Marshmallows1 - 10 for garnish


Heat up powdered cocoa mixed with equal parts water and condensed milk and 2 pinches of cayenne. Pour into mug. Add the Brancamenta and bourbon. Garnish with the mint sprig and sprinkle with cayenne. Throw in as many marshmallows as you’d like and enjoy!
